Tax abatements will again be discussed when the Plymouth Common Council meets this evening. Earlier this month, the council passed a resolution declaring the planned Pretzels Inc. site to be within an Economic Revitalization Area.
The snack producer is expected to move into the Marshall County Shell Building near Pioneer Drive and U.S. 30 next year. Pretzels Inc. has announced plans to request a $6.3 million real estate abatement and a $12.1 million personal property abatement. Tonight, council members will hear input from the public before considering the next steps of the abatement process.
During tonight’s meeting, the Plymouth Common Council is also expected to consider an Economic Revitalization Area for Viking Paper Corp. Members of the public will also have a chance to weigh in on the city’s proposed 2017 budget.
Tonight’s Plymouth Common Council meeting begins at 6:30, following the Board of Works meeting at 6:00. Bids for the city’s fall street and sidewalk projects will be opened during tonight’s Board of Works meeting.
Board members will also follow up on a couple issues discussed by the board earlier this year, including parking restrictions on Harrison Street near Michigan Street and an alley that appears to have migrated outside its right-of-way and onto a neighboring homeowner’s property.
