The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency is taking flood damage information from area residents following heavy rainstorms on Friday and Saturday.
Reporting the damage will be compiled to apply for state or federal disaster assistance should there be a sufficient number of reports. The EMA says that reporting your flood damage is not a guarantee of assistance at some future date.
The Indiana State Department of Health is also advising the public on how to properly sanitize their environment if their homes or property have sustained water damage. More information can be found online regarding treating drinking water, disinfecting wells, rehabilitating buildings, and properly salvaging damaged food left inside the home.
Indiana has been hit relatively hard with precipitation throughout August and September this year.
