Labor Day weekend often means fitting one last getaway into summer, and AAA says lower gas prices across the country may have an effect on American’s travel plans.
Pump prices are on the rise heading into Labor Day weekend after trending down for two months. The national average price for a gallon of gas is $2.22. Despite the $.06 per gallon increase in the past few days, motorists are still paying $.27 cents less per gallon on average than they were this time last year.
AAA says its survey indicates lower gas prices makes 55-percent of Americans more likely to travel.
More than 35-million say they are traveling over the Labor Day holiday weekend which begins on Thursday and wraps up on Tuesday of next week. More than 85-percent are traveling by car.
