Those interested in taking advantage of a Culver boat cruise will be able to do so in August.
The Vonnegut Family Cruise looks to take history enthusiasts to the areas the Vonnegut family frequented on Lake Maxinkuckee. Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. is an Indiana-based author, famous for works such as “Slaughterhouse Five.”
The cruise will take attendees into an 1890’s cottage where the Vonnegut family spent their summers. The tour will be led by Culver-based Historian Jeff Kenney and will dock at the restored cottage of Clemens Vonnegut. The cottage was restored by Culver Academies’ graduates and has won state awards for the effort.
The venture will take place on August 31st. In addition to the Vonnegut Cruise, Culver regularly sponsors History Cruises that focus on the stories behind Culver and the notable individuals that lived-in or frequented the area.
Another History Cruise will take place on Friday, lasting about 90 minutes.
