The Plymouth School Board has approved the teacher evaluation plan for the new school year. Assistant Superintendent Andy Hartley told the school board Tuesday that the policies were reviewed by a committee of teachers and administrators, who only recommended a few minor changes. “They were quite minimal,” he said. “It came to just a few little words here or there that helped clear some things up. Concerns, I think from the discussion with the committee, related to implementation, ensuring that as administration goes, in regards of who goes in, we code things the same way, adhering to the necessary time lines.”
Hartley added that new administrators will be trained in the evaluation procedures as they are hired and will also receive ongoing training. The school corporation’s plan is based on standards developed by the Indiana Department of Education and has to be re-approved every year.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the school board also approved some additions to the revised terms of employment for classified staff. The changes included an update to the employees’ vacation policy. The new revision also added pay ranges for certain positions that were inadvertently left off the employment conditions that were approved by the board last month.
