The Plymouth Community School Corporation and Athletic Department are celebrating the completion of renovations to the Rockpile at tonight’s football season opener. A special dedication ceremony will take place at 7:10 p.m. on the 35 yard line prior to the kickoff of the Plymouth v. Bremen game.
Plymouth High School graduate Cassi Quissell is studying architecture at Ball State. She played an intricate role in designing the initial revamped Rockpile during her first year summer internship with the school corporation last year. She returned this year and saw the project through fruition. Quissell’s love of design was sparked during her sophomore year at PHS when she started taking Project Lead the Way courses. She enrolled in the PHS Construction Technology program, formerly known as the building trades program, as an upperclassmen. Her blueprint designs were chosen by the program’s instructor for the house the students actually built two years in a row.
Tonight’s dedication ceremony will wrap up around 7:30 p.m. with an official rebuilding the Rockpile ribbon cutting. Current PHS students— Nicole Horvath, a senior representing PHS girls track; Nathan Patterson, a junior representing boys track; Hannah Walker, a senior representing cheerleading; Caleb Koss, a senior representing the football team; along with Gabe Celmer, a senior representing the band—will cut the ribbon together to signify the opening of the newly rebuilt facility.
Gates open at 5:15 p.m. for those who want to get a pregame look at the new and improved Rockpile. It’s also Senior Night, with festivities beginning at 6:50 p.m.
MAX 98.3 FM will carry tonight’s Plymouth v. Bremen game live and will sponsor a special on-field promotion during halftime.
