Master Motor Carrier Inspector Ralph Reed, Jr.

Indiana State Police will hold a dedication on Saturday in Porter County to honor a man killed while on duty near Plymouth.

The ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. on I-94 westbound at the 29 mile marker. The dedication will honor the life of Master Motor Carrier Inspector Ralph Reed, Jr. He served as an ISP Inspector from 1968 until 1995. He died in August of that year when he was killed by a semi tractor-trailer hauling cattle on U.S. 30 near Plymouth.

Reed is considered the first ISP motor carrier inspector to be killed in the line of duty. Members of the ISP and members of Reed’s family are anticipated to attend the dedication ceremony.
