Hamlet’s Yellowstone Trail Fest will have a 1920s theme this year. The theme looks to recognize the period when automobile travel was just becoming popular and routes like the Yellowstone Trail were helping to make intercity travel by car possible.
As part of the festivities, Oregon-Davis High School students will be impersonating historical figures from that era, and the Dazzling Divas Red Hat Society will present a 1920s fashion show. The theme will also extend to the Yellowstone Trail Fest Parade. Participants will be judged based either on the 1920s theme or on an Indiana Bicentennial theme. Those planning on taking part are asked to submit their parade entries by August 15.
Other events during the festival include a re-purposed metal sculpture contest, battle of the bands, and zucchini contest. More information and entry forms may be found at YellostoneTrailFest.com.
The Yellowstone Trail Fest takes place August 20 and 21 at the Starke County Fairgrounds.
