Performances are now underway for the Maxinkuckee Players’ summer production. The community theater’s production of “Beauty and the Beast” opened last night.
Director Becky Liechty says it’s a show the whole family will enjoy. “It’s the typical story that everybody knows with wonderful music,” she says. “It’s got some fabulous big production numbers with almost the entire cast, just a real fun show.”
She adds the production features some elaborate costumes and sets. It also takes quite a few people to stage, with the cast consisting of about 50 actors. “It’s been a difficult show to do,” she says. “It’s a very expensive show to do. But the cast has done an absolutely fabulous job, and I think we’re ready. I think we’ll give everybody a good performance.”
There will be some familiar faces in the production of “Beauty and the Beast,” with many of the actors having taken part in Maxinkuckee Players’ productions for decades. However, Liechty says there are also about 10 to 12 actors that are new to the group. The complete cast list may be found on the Maxinkuckee Players website.
Performances take place at the Culver Community High School Auditorium tomorrow afternoon at 4:00, and continue next Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. as well as next Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
Tickets are available at the door.
