Purdue Extension and the Department of Natural Resources are teaming up to educate landowners on forestry management techniques.
To do this, the group is holding a “Forestry Field Day” on July 30th at the Henry F. Schricker Public Library in Knox. A morning session will discuss forestry management concepts and allow participants to ask questions.
In the afternoon, a visit will be made to the Starke County forest to discuss animal species and plant varieties as well as invasive species that could potentially harm forested areas.
The economics of forestry and how to monetize tree crops will also be discussed.
The seminar will start at 9:00 a.m. and will include speakers from the local extension office, and local and state forestry experts.
