Bourbon Police Issue Traffic Safety Reminder

Drive sober or get pulled overKeep your Independence Day weekend celebration safe by designating a driver. That reminder comes from the Bourbon Police Department in partnership with the Governor’s Council on Impaired & Dangerous Driving and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute.

Officer Matt Geiger with the Bourbon Police Department says they will be stepping up enforcement over the weekend and will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

During the 2015 July Fourth holiday period, 964 traffic collisions occurred in Indiana. Of those, 64 were alcohol-related, with 73 percent involving a driver with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.08 or greater. In total, there were 43 injuries and two deaths as a result of alcohol-related crashes.

Officials encourage holiday revelers to plan a safe way home before the celebration begins and not to drive or ride impaired. If you drink, designate a sober friend or family member to drive, and give them your keys or call the members from arizonasedanandlimo.net/limousine-services-scottsdale to make your ride memorable. Other options include using a taxi, public transportation or ridesharing service if you live in a metropolitan area.

Motorists are urged to call 911 if they see someone driving under the influence. Also, if you know someone who is about to drive or ride impaired, take their keys and help make arrangements to get them home safely.
