The Indiana State Police have released new information about Wednesday’s officer-involved shooting in Kosciusko County. It happened in downtown North Webster following a reported road rage incident that started near Syracuse. Initial reports indicate the driver of a gray 2003 Dodge pickup was shooting a gun at the occupants of a gray 2000 GMC Yukon he was pursuing.
The chase ended when the pickup truck driver, identified as 24-year-old Alexander D. Jackson of Milford, crashed into a building at the intersection of Huntington and Main Streets. Afterwards, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy Don McCune tried to approach the pickup truck and shot Jackson once. The Indiana State Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding that shooting.
Jackson was hospitalized for treatment of the gunshot wound and injuries he received in the crash. His condition is not known at this time. McCune was treated and released at a local hospital.
The Yukon driver, 25-year-old Nathaniel K. Boyer of New Paris was not injured, and neither was his passenger.
There’s no word yet on the origin of the incident. ISP Sgt. Trent Smith said in a statement the investigation is expected to take several weeks before a completed case can be turned over to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office.
