Celebrate like it’s 1916 with a trip to an Indiana State Park this weekend. In honor of their centennial celebration, the DNR is rolling back entrance fees to 10-cents per person on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. That’s how much gate admission cost in 1916.
Park patrons can donate more if they choose. All entry donations collected this weekend will support local property programs and projects.
Annual passes and Golden Hoosier passes may be used. Off-road cycling, lake, horse and other standard fees still apply.
The Indiana State Park system was formed in 1916 in celebration of the state’s centennial. McCormick’s Creek was the first state park, followed by Turkey Run later that year. In the ensuing 100 years, the system has grown to 32 properties that host about 16 million visitors annually.
