A Bremen man accused of killing a 15-year-old girl has pleaded guilty.
20-year-old Fabian Rubio was facing charges related to the murder of 15-year-old Bremen teen Desi Jones. The victim’s body was located in a field just off 5th road the morning of December 19th, according to a press release from the Marshall County Prosecutor’s office.
Rubio has been facing charges of Murder, Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, and Abuse of a Corpse since May of 2015. The defendant was scheduled for a jury trial next month.
Following the guilty plea this morning in Marshall County Superior Court, the jury trial has been vacated. A sentencing hearing for Rubio has been scheduled for July 14th where he will be facing between 45 and 65 years in prison.
Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman says he will be requesting the court to impose the maximum sentence in the case due to what he says is the nature of the crime, the impact on the community, and the emotional loss to the family.
