Plymouth Police say they are searching for a suspect who escaped police following an hours-long pursuit.
The incident occurred on Monday around 9:30 p.m. in the area of Hoham and Michigan Street in Plymouth. According to an incident report, officers attempted to make a traffic stop on the moped for an alleged traffic violation.
According to police, the driver of the moped did not stop for authorities and continued through the Christo’s and Day’s Inn parking lots. The driver then exited northbound onto Michigan Street.
The pursuit continued as the moped continued through the round-a-bout and eventually took a turn onto a dirt path into a cornfield. The moped was eventually located by officers about one mile into the field. The driver, however, was not located by officers despite a two hour search of the area.
Further investigation revealed the moped had been stolen about one month prior to the chase. Plymouth Police say they will continue investigating the matter.
