The Indiana Department of Transportation is extending a deadline that may have an effect on county and municipal governments.
July 29th is the new deadline for the Community Crossings grant application. It will give counties and towns an additional two weeks to compile the necessary information and the cost estimates to submit an appropriate proposal to the state. The grant applications are being accepted by INDOT for addition road and bridge maintenance and construction funds.
Local governments are allowed to use a special distribution of state LOIT funds as the matching portion of the grant. INDOT says projects are being evaluated based on need, traffic volume, public support, and economic development impact.
