The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is gearing up for the North Judson Mint Festival over Father’s Day Weekend. The museum’s planned some special events for dads and the entire family to enjoy.
Excursion trains will run on both Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19. Visitors have the chance to ride in open-air cars, vintage cabooses, or a commuter coach. Round trips to English Lake will leave the depot at 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. CDT each day.
Fans of railroad art will want to visit the museum next Saturday. Local artist and railroader Mitch Markovitz, known for his “Just Around the Corner along the South Shore Line” poster series, will be there to meet with visitors. A variety of his signed posters will be on sale.
Those looking for an extra-special gift this Father’s Day can give their dad the chance to operate a train engine, through the museum’s guest engineer programs.
Train ride tickets and complete schedules are available online at HoosierValley.org. Admission to the museum itself is free.
