A major gas leak in Bremen is causing evacuations in the community.
According to authorities with the Bremen Police Department and the Marshall County Emergency Management Agency, the gas leak occurred near the 100 N. Block of Bowen Avenue in Bremen, otherwise known as Woodie’s Supermarket.
In response, an evacuation is underway for four blocks in all directions surrounding the grocery store. That includes northbound to Dewey, south to Grant, west of Liberty, and east to Marshall Streets.
For now, authorities do not know how long it will take to contain the gas leak and return the area to safe conditions. Those affected by the evacuation can seek shelter at the Bremen Town Hall.
