Several Marshall County organizations are taking part in a statewide public art initiative celebrating Indiana’s bicentennial.
Large, fiberglass bison sculptures were delivered to Marshall County on Tuesday. They will appear at the Marshall County Historical Museum on Michigan Street in Plymouth and at the Bremen Center for Seniors.
Local artists will be tasked with painting the bison sculptures to reflect Marshall County’s places, buildings, and history. Visitors to downtown Plymouth will be able to observe the artists working away. According to a press release, the bison sculpture in Plymouth will be placed outside the museum once the work has been completed.
The bison project was developed in coordination with the Indiana Association of United Ways. The United Way of Marshall County is encouraging businesses and organizations to help sponsor a bison.
Those sculptures will be featured along the bicentennial torch relay later this year.
