Several county offices are up for grabs in today’s primary election. It will be up to Republican voters to choose the next Marshall County treasurer, coroner, and surveyor. No Democrats have filed for those offices.
Angie Johnson Birchmeier, Bill Cleavenger, and Steven Heim are all running for treasurer. John Grolich is facing Bridget Hite in the county coroner’s race. In the surveyor’s race, Craig Cultice, Rex Gilliland, Don Heckford, and Dennis Morrison are all in the running.
The county commissioner District 3 seat will also be decided in the Republican primary, with incumbent Kevin Overmyer facing a challenge from Bill Githens. Republicans Mike Delp and Jason Hall are running for the District 2 commissioner seat. The winner of the primary will face Democrat Rex Crump in November’s General Election.
In the county council at-large race, incumbents Steve Harper and John Van Vactor are joined by fellow Republicans Toni Hutchings, Penny Lukenbill, Jim Masterson and Jack Roose. Also looking for at-large seats are Democrats John Nifong, Julian “Jud” Rousch and Donna Wentzel.
Several precinct committeemen and state convention delegates are also on the ballot, in addition to state and U.S. representatives and senators, and the presidential primary.
For the first time, Marshall County voters have the option to cast their ballots at any one of 12 vote centers. Voters must bring a driver’s license, picture ID, or passport.
