Last week’s Prescription Drug Take Back Event resulted in nearly 1,400 pounds of unwanted drugs being collected by Indiana State Police. That’s not counting those collected by 36 other law enforcement agencies around the state who took part in the event, including the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and the Bremen Police Department.
Locally, five pounds of unwanted drugs were turned in at the ISP Bremen Post, while the Lowell Post collected 34 pounds.
Saturday was the 11th nationwide Drug Take Back Day. It’s sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration and aims to prevent drug abuse and theft by helping people properly dispose of their prescription drugs.
State Police say due to the success of the Drug Take Back Events so far, plans are already in the works for another one this fall.
