The Plymouth Common Council will consider an increase in the community’s sewer rates when they meet this evening.
A financial analysis was conducted by financial firm Umbaugh and Associates to understand how the current sewer rates are satisfying the City’s utility needs. The company recommended a 17-percent increase in the cost to consumers.
An ordinance increase those rates has already gone to a first reading, the matter will now go to second and third reading during tonight’s meeting.
The City of Plymouth is also preparing its budget to receive state of Indiana road disbursements for 2016. The matter has been a major issue at the county level, but Plymouth intends to create a fund in its budget to accept the funds.
Tonight’s Plymouth Common Council meeting will follow the Board of Works. That meeting starts at 6:00 p.m. in Council Chambers at Plymouth City Hall.
