The Indiana Homeland Security Foundation has allocated more than $175-thousand to the state’s public safety agencies, including some in the local area.
Grants of up to $4-thousand are used to help local governments purchase equipment that supports some of their daily operations. Governor Mike Pence says the grants are saving lives across the state.
This year, 48 grant recipients were selected in 36 counties. Projects relating to emergency responders, technology, and training were on the list of requirements to be eligible for the funds.
The Bremen Fire Department was awarded $4-thousand for the purchase of three sets of firefighter gear.
Last year, the Indiana Homeland Security Foundation awarded more than $370-thousand in grants. The funds are gathered from the sale of “Secure Indiana” license plates.
