The Plymouth Community School Corporation is formally updating some of its eLearning policies. On days when school is canceled due to weather or other reasons, eLearning days allow students to take part in classes and complete assignments online.
Plymouth High School Dean of Students Ken Olson is the chair of the corporation’s student handbook committee. He told the school board Tuesday that next year’s handbooks more clearly explain the reason for the eLearning days, and clarify each school’s eLearning attendance policy. Elementary and intermediate school students will now be expected to take their computers and iPads home with them, even over weekends and school breaks, in case an eLearning Day is required.
Superintendent Dan Tyree said there’s currently no limit on the number of eLearning days, but some teachers are concerned about having a large number of eLearning days in a row. A limit of three consecutive eLearning days may be considered in the future.
Tyree added that the corporation continues to seek feedback from parents, students, and teachers on eLearning.
