Treat Mom to a unique celebration this Mother’s Day weekend with a train excursion trip at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum in North Judson. Saturday fares for mothers are half price, and all ladies will get a free carnation.
Round trips originate at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum depot in North Judson and travel across the Kankakee River through the countryside. Passengers ride in open-air cars, vintage cabooses or in a commuter coach.
The 45-minute, 10-mile round trip train leaves the station at 12:30 p.m. CDT, and the two-hour, 20-mile round trip train departs at 2 p.m. CDT. Advance reservations are encouraged and can be made by visiting www.hoosiervalley.org. Tours of the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum are always free.
It is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the history of railroading and the surrounding area. The museum is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Central year-round. Train excursions take place weekends from May through October and for special events. This year’s train schedule is on their website.
