Secretary of State Connie Lawson is encouraging Hoosiers to vote during the May 3rd primary election.
Lawson’s offices compile voting data by county and measure changes in voter behavior year-to-year. Primary elections typically see lower turnout than the November General Election, but often decide the candidates moving onto the next step of their campaign.
Polls will be open in Indiana from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. local time. Lawson says that if you’re unable to make it to a polling location on May 3rd, there are early and absentee voting opportunities available through the local county clerk’s offices.
To increase access to polling locations, Marshall and Pulaski Counties are implementing a vote center model. That means that if voters are commuting, or in another part of the county from their residence, they can provide an ID and receive the proper ballot at any of the available polling locations.
Apart from getting voters to the polls, Lawson is also encouraging voters to research all of the issues, and the candidates prior to casting a ballot. More voting information can be learned by contacting your local county clerk’s office.
