The State of Indiana is looking to honor senior citizens who are giving back to their communities. Nominations are now being accepted for the 2016 Golden Hoosier Awards.
The award is given out each year by the Lieutenant Governor’s Office and the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Aging to recognize senior citizens who have dedicated their lives to helping their communities. The State of Indiana considers the award one of its highest honors given to senior citizens.
Nominees must be 65 years of age or older and a current Indiana resident. They also need to have been a volunteer in the community for the past three years.
Applications are due by April 29. The Golden Hoosier Awards will be presented at the Indiana Statehouse on Friday, June 3.
