Plymouth’s Wastewater Treatment Plant improvement project continues to move ahead.
During an update on the project given to the Plymouth Board of Works this week, Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson said discussions are currently taking place with the construction contractor selected for the project. “We are completing negotiations with Kokosing Construction,” he said. “We anticipate having those to Umbaugh and Associates for their review and for their recommendation before the next board meeting.”
The city had previously selected Kokosing as the most qualified firm to submit a proposal for the project. Because the city decided to use a Guaranteed Savings Contract, it’s able to negotiate with the contractor on pricing before the start of work. Then, the city has some additional oversight on spending while the project is taking place.
Davidson says negotiations with Kokosing are going well. However, in the unlikely event an agreement cannot be reached, the city has the option to switch to the next most-qualified firm.
Also during Monday’s meeting, the Board of Works gave Davidson permission to solicit quotes for roof replacements at three of the smaller buildings at the Wastewater Treatment Plant.
