Family Express plans to make ethanol-blended fuel easier to get, thanks to a grant from the Indiana Office of Energy Development. The gas station chain has been awarded over $789,000 to install 45 blender pumps in northern Indiana, including locations in Starke, LaPorte, and St. Joseph counties.
The funding is part of the second round of grants awarded in the Hoosier Homegrown Fuels Blender Pump Program, which aims to expand the availability of E15 to E85 blends.
The program is a partnership involving the Office of Energy Development, the Indiana Corn Marketing Council, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, Greater Indiana Clean Cities, and South Shore Clean Cities. It’s being funded with money from the Corn Marketing Council as well as the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
