Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the Tuesday afternoon drowning death of a fisherman in Lake Maxinkuckee.
A construction worker on the shore saw the man, identified as 86-year-old Richard Corl, go into the water around 12:30 p.m. and called 911, according to a news release.
Firefighters from the Culver-Union Township Volunteer Fire Department pulled Corl from the water. He was taken by ambulance to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth, where he was pronounced dead.
Corl’s death is believed to have been accidental. Conservation officers remind everyone to wear a coast guard-approved life jacket every time they are in or near the water.
