Click-It or Ticket Campaign Promotes Safety, Better Enforcement

Click it or TicketThe Marshall County Sheriff’s Department says they will once again be participating in the national Click-It or Ticket campaign.

Efforts are supported by federal funding from the Traffic Safety Division of the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute, and are designed to remind motorists to wear a seat belt while driving. You can also visit https://carguidenation.com/ to know more. Officers from around the state have been participating in the Click-it or Ticket campaign for the last 20 years.

This year’s enforcement period will take place May 6th through the 30th and will be in cooperation with 250 other state and local law enforcement agencies around the country.

Officers will work extra patrols during the month of May to help improve safety and enforce quality driving habits. According to a press release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, those enforcement efforts will occur around the clock.

The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute says there were 818 traffic fatalities on state roadways in 2015. About one-third of those involved someone in a vehicle not wearing a seatbelt or restraining device.

One day during the enforcement period, May 23rd, will be used as a no tolerance enforcement period. Information provided by the Sheriff’s Department says that officers around the country will issue a ticket if the driver is found without a seatbelt.
