Bourbon Announcement May Mean Purchase of Former Amerimax Site

MCEDC-smallThe Town of Bourbon is slated for a major announcement next Tuesday, but information about the event has been kept to a minimum.

Marshall County Economic Development Corporation Director Jerry Chavez previewed the affair during Monday morning’s County Commissioners meeting. The event – which will take place at Bourbon Town Hall on April 12th – has only been described as an exciting new development to residents and businesses.

Officials with the Town of Bourbon, however, were able to provide a few more details.

Sources confirm that the old Amerimax building, in the 600 block of West Center Street in Bourbon, has been purchased. The name of the company making the purchase has not been disclosed.

The former Amerimax site has been vacant for close to 20 years according to one official, but boasts about 74-thousand square feet of space according to previous listings on various realty sites.

The building is not available on the Marshall County Economic Development Corporations web page, but the “Reynold’s Building” is listed for sale. The former Amerimax has been used for various purposes over the years, including: aluminum fabrication and storage.

The announcement on what the new purchaser plans to do with the site remains to be seen.
