MCEDC Executive Director Jerry Chavez had some thoughts to offer on one of his recent successes with the Marshall County Commissioners, this week.
The announcement that Indiana Composites was moving to the Town of Bourbon with plans to create about 200 jobs was considered good progress by local economic development officials.
Chavez says it points to the success of some of the strategies they’re using to attract companies to Marshall County.
“What is not well known is: anytime we can control our planning and execution, we have better success,” says Chavez.
The lead for the company, however, did not come through the state of Indiana. MCEDC was able to interact with the company and communicate with company officials, itself.
Indiana Composites specializes in manufacturing open and closed molded fiberglass components for marine, RV, and specialty vehicles. Investments in the $3-million range are anticipated for equipment purchases and building renovations.
Chavez says that the MCEDC often works behind the scenes to help the Marshall County economy.
“You set your own destiny and I learned a long time ago that Murphy’s Law is alive and well in economic development on a daily basis,” says Chavez.
Work to bring the company to Bourbon started months ago with conversations about incentives and available manufacturing sites.
The commissioners congratulated Chavez on the success.
