The Culver-Union Township Fire Department is in need of volunteers. Officials with the volunteer fire department say it has shrunk to just 20 firefighters.
They especially need volunteers who are available to respond to emergencies during daytime hours, but they also need help for other shifts. To join the fire department, potential recruits must be at least 18 years of age and live within Culver or Union Township. Officials say it also helps to have an interest in emergency services and helping others.
In addition to fighting fires, there are also opportunities for volunteers to specialize in various areas, such as the department’s SCUBA dive rescue team. For more information about volunteering, call the Culver Town Hall at 574-842-3140.
