The Plymouth Board of Works will soon choose a contractor for its Wastewater Treatment Plan improvement project. Utility superintendent Donnie Davidson is expected to recommend a company to do the construction work during tonight’s Board of Works meeting. He and two of the board members reviewed qualifications from four potential contractors.
Because the city has decided to use a Guaranteed Savings Contract for the project, the contractor isn’t chosen based on the lowest bid. Instead, the committee used a scoring system to rank them according to which company is most qualified.
Tonight’s Board of Works meeting starts at 6:00, followed by the Common Council meeting at 6:30.
During the council meeting, an ordinance will be brought to a first reading that would allow retiring firefighters and paramedics to purchase their helmets and boots. It’s modeled after action taken last year by the Common Council and Board of Works to allow police officers to buy their service weapons upon retirement. Council member Gary Cook suggested the change, to give fire department employees a similar opportunity.
Also during tonight’s council meeting, Plymouth Airport Manager Dave Lattimer will give an update on the airport’s five-year plan, and the Aviation Department’s new fee schedule will be presented for first reading.
