Plymouth 19-year-old Arrested Following Vehicle Accident Inquiry

police-3Plymouth Police were investigating a three vehicle accident on Friday morning, but happened to arrest an individual unaffiliated with the incident.

According to information provided by the Plymouth Police Department, officers were in the area of Walnut and Jefferson Street around 10:00 a.m. when they approached a vehicle that was near the accident site. Officers say the car was attempting to travel through accident scene.

Plymouth police say there appeared to be smoke coming from inside the vehicle. The odor of burnt cannabis was detected. It was requested that the driver open the windows to verify where the smoke was coming from. An incident summary says the driver, identified as 19-year-old Derek Ross, allegedly admitted to illegal items inside the car. A search was conducted where cannabis was allegedly found.

Ross was taken to the hospital for a drug screening and booked at the Marshall County Jail. He is facing charges of Operating While Intoxicated, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Schedule Four Controlled Substance.
