Don’t let your Super Bowl celebration end with a trip to jail or worse. The Governor’s Council on Impaired & Dangerous Driving and the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute are working with law enforcement around the state to ensure celebrations are safe ones.
During last year’s Super Bowl weekend, 60-percent of the 45 alcohol-related crashes statewide involved a driver with a blood alcohol content in excess of .08. There were a total of 14 injuries and no deaths last year.
Partygoers are encouraged to plan a safe way home before the celebration begins. If you plan to drink, designate a driver or make other arrangements to get home. Motorists who see a driver they believe is impaired are urged to call 911. Also, if you know someone is about to drive impaired, take their keys and help them to get home safely.
