Hamlet’s Yellowstone Trail Fest may still be over six months away, but organizers have already announced some of their plans for this year’s event. They say the festival will focus on the 1920s this year, and will also commemorate the Indiana Bicentennial as well as the centennial of the National Parks Service.
Organizers plan to feature plenty of early model cars in the event’s car show. They’re also looking for volunteers to portray historical characters. The Dazzling Diva Red Hats will be putting on a 1920’s fashion show and the Civil War Blacksmith will be back with his handmade cannon.
For musical entertainment, the Nightshift Band will be returning to the festival, and strolling folk musicians will also be featured. A new event this year will be a Battle of the Bands.
The Miss Yellowstone Trail Fest Pageant is being moved to the last week of July, so the queen will be able to take part in the festival’s opening ceremonies. Additionally, the zucchini contest will once again be part of the Yellowstone Trail Fest.
If you would like to help out with the festival, organizers meet the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Starke County Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Center depot. This year’s Yellowstone Trail Fest will be held August 20 and 21 at the Starke County Fairgrounds.
