An Elkhart man accused of breaking into several homes in the Lake of the Woods area was sentenced this week in Marshall Superior Court. Eric Pfishner pleaded guilty to the string of burglaries. They occurred between February and April of 2014, according to court documents, many within feet of one another.
Investigators say the method of entry, items stolen and condition of the scene when discovered were all substantially the same, if not identical. None of the homeowners were able to provide a description of the suspect. A detective from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office found a glove and a soft drink can in the course of the investigations and submitted DNA samples from both to the state police crime lab. Scientists determined both matched Pfishner’s DNA profile.
He was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison, with 15 to be served in the Department of Correction and the remaining five to be suspended.
