Icy Roads Blamed for Marshall County Crash

accidentRoad conditions are to blame for a single-vehicle Wednesday afternoon accident that caused a power outage.

A 2009 Toyota Matrix driven by 23-year-old Hsar Wah of Fort Wayne was northbound on 331 south of 5th Road, according to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle left the road, struck a ditch, wire fence and NIPSCO pole. The driver was pinned inside and had to be cut from the wreckage by the Bremen Fire Department. He was airlifted to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with a broken leg. The road was icy and snow covered at the time of the 1:30 p.m. crash.
