The next step has been taken to help a Bourbon-based company expand its location and retain workers.
During the Bourbon Town Council’s meeting held Wednesday night, a 10-year property tax levy and personal property tax abatement was approved for Harmony Press. The action was taken following a public hearing in January that deemed the location an economic revitalization area.
According to information gathered by the Marshall County Economic Development Corporation, Harmony Press plans to invest about $1.5-million to purchase and set-up new machinery. An additional $250-thousand will be invested to expand its downtown facility.
By making the investments, the company believes it can increase its profit margins – which will allow them to retain more workers. The company already employs about 60 full-time workers.
Bourbon Town Council President Les McFarlin says the community was pleased to give back to the company.
