State Grants Available for Quality of Place Initiatives

news-2Cities and towns throughout Indiana are urged to apply for Place Based Investment Funds. The grants from the state Office of Community and Rural Affairs and Indiana Office of Tourism Development support projects focused on furthering quality of place initiatives.

Communities can apply for grants of between $20,000 and $50,000 through the competitive application process. Eligible projects should create a quality of place where people want to work, live and raise a family. The Place Based Investment Funds program targets communities promoting quality of life, improved tourism experiences and developing multi-purpose gathering places.

State officials note the tourism and hospitality industry is Indiana’s sixth largest, excluding government. It’s directly responsible for 144,200 jobs, generates over $2.25 billion in tax receipts and contributes $10.7 billion in revenue to Indiana businesses.
