The deadline is drawing near for candidates to file to run for elected office.
The Marshall County Clerk’s office released the names of new candidates that will be running in May’s primary elections, or November’s general elections. Only a couple of new names appear on the list.
John Nifong has opted to run as a Democrat for one of the County Council at-large seats. He joins Donna Wenzel on the list of Democratic candidates for the office. No new Republicans have filed.
Michael Leda has filed to run as a Democrat as a state convention delegate. His name is added to a growing list of candidates seeking to represent the county during the state convention later this year.
Candidates have until later this week to complete filing the proper paperwork.
