Plymouth Board of Works Approves Fuel and Street Material Bids

Plymouth IndianaThe City of Plymouth will save some money this year, thanks to lower fuel prices. The Plymouth Board of Works Monday ratified the bid awarded for fuel supplies for 2016.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt signed a contract with North Central Co-op for $1.719 per gallon for diesel and $1.731 per gallon for gasoline, including taxes. Those prices will remain fixed for the entire year. Marquardt told the board this year’s prices are significantly lower.

“Last year’s price when we did this and locked in, we were at $2.30 for diesel and $1.90 for gasoline,” says Marquardt

Also during Monday’s meeting, Marquardt recommended that the Board of Works award bids for street materials to both IMI and Stockberger Trucking.

“They both have some items that the other does not have and so I would once again recommend, like we have in the past, to accept both of the bids for the year, and then that way, when we need certain materials, we have it,” says Marquardt.

He added that if certain items are offered by both suppliers, the city plans to buy them from the company offering the lower price.

The Board of Works unanimously approved awarding the bids as recommended.
