Prospective college students and their parents can get a crash course in financial aid from the staff at Ancilla College. They’re hosting financial aid workshops tonight at Knox High School and Monday at Oregon-Davis. Both sessions start at 6 p.m. CST.
The Ancilla College Financial Aid Presentation explains how the application process works. Staff members will also help parents and students fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA. It’s due March 10th.
FAFSA helps colleges determine financial eligibility for all sorts of programs that may help you pay for college. They include scholarships, grants and loans. Ancilla officials say it is like the common application for financial aid. They encourage all potential college students to complete the FAFSA so schools can create a financial aid file. They stress there’s no obligation to attend and say without it aid offerings will be extremely limited.
The form is available online at www.fafsa.gov. It takes about 40 minutes to complete. Returning students must fill it out annually.
Additional FAFSA workshops are scheduled next month in Culver and Argos. Several are planned at Ancilla as well. Prospective students can call 866-ANCILLA or visit www.ancilla.edu for more information. Ancilla officials say they are happy to help students complete the form even if they are planning to attend college elsewhere.
