Slick Roads Blamed for Morning Wrecks

accidentSlippery roads are believed to be a factor in a couple of accidents this morning on the U.S. 31 bypass. The first happened around 6:30 a.m., according to officials with the Marshall County Police Department.

That’s when 45-year-old Steven Pritz of Culver was northbound on U.S. 31 at the Lincoln Highway overpass just south of 9A road and lost control of his pickup truck. It went into the median and hit a metal guardrail before rolling onto its top in the grass, according to the crash report.

A few minutes later a second northbound pickup truck driven by 60-year-old Russell Trump of Argos struck the concrete wall on the overpass and came to rest in the grass median.

Pritz was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for treatment of neck and back pain. Trump was not injured.

Officers from the Marshall County Police Department note the road was icy when the crashes occurred. Plymouth Fire and EMS assisted with the incident response.
