The front seat passenger of a car traveling in Marshall County early Tuesday morning was taken to the hospital following a three-vehicle crash.
18-year-old Daniel Greene of Eau Claire, Michigan was driving his Toyota minivan north on U.S. 31. While traveling, the car reached the intersection with Kenilworth Road in Marshall County. It is believed by investigators that Greene fell asleep behind the wheel.
The alleged lapse caused Greene to rear end a Semi-Tractor trailer driven by 57-year-old Merab Tsuleiskiri of Skokie, Illinois.
Greene’s minivan came to a rest in the northbound lanes following the initial collision, but was struck by a second Semi-Tractor trailer. 39-year-old Jason Gingerich was identified as the driver of that vehicle.
First responders say Greene’s passenger, Hadassah Schnepp, was pinned inside the minivan. She sustained serious injuries to her legs.
Schnepp was airlifted by Med Flight to Memorial Hospital in South Bend. An investigation is ongoing.
