Some additional work will need to be done following Tuesday’s General Municipal Election.
The Town of Argos – which had a competitive race for three open seats on the Town Council – saw a tie for the third spot. Charles Snead (R) and Dustin Johnson (D) each received 23.82% once all of the ballots had been counted.
According to Marshall County Clerk Debbie Vandemark, Election Board members will certify the results and send a written notice of the tie to the County Council. Another notice will be sent to the Argos Town Clerk-Treasurer.
Indiana Code specifies that the Argos Town Council is expected to break the tie through a vote of the council members by December 31st. The Town Clerk-Treasurer would have a tie breaker vote if the Argos Town Council cannot finalize a decision.
The new board will be seated during the New Year.
