Plymouth Man Killed in Saturday Morning Crash

fatal-accidentOne man is dead and five people are injured after a crash Saturday morning in rural Marshall County. According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, it happened just after 8:30 at the intersection of U.S. 31 and 14C Road.

Police say Matthew Bera, 43, of Sterret, Alabama was driving southbound on U.S. 31 in a 2008 Mercedes Benz when a 2012 Chevrolet driven by Robert Lant, 67, of Plymouth pulled out of the crossover and into the path of Bera’s car.

Bera, along with his wife and three children, was taken to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for treatment. Lant was treated at the scene by Argos and Plymouth EMS, before being taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend where he later died from his injuries.
