Voter turnout in Marshall County during the Nov. 3 Municipal General Election exceeded the statewide average. That’s according to data released this week by Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson.
She says 20.5 percent of Hoosiers eligible to vote in the election cast ballots. By the numbers that’s nearly 600,000 of more than 2.7 million people. Only voters who live in a city or town with an election this year or in a school corporation conducting a construction or tax levy referendum were eligible to vote.
Locally 23.8 percent of eligible voters cast ballots. That’s 1,891 of 7,943, according to the Secretary of State’s office. Plymouth, Argos, Bremen and Culver all had contested races, which helped to boost turnout.
